The STaR Chart area that caught my attention is Teaching and Learning. In Teaching and Learning, educators are using technology in their curriculum to most effectively reach today’s learners. Having well-trained teachers is key to executing this objective successfully. The majority of schools in Texas have shown continued improvement and are progressing towards the Target Tech Level which is the highest level of the STaR Chart. Since 2008, school districts at a local, state, and national level are striving to mold a technology literate generation by grade 8. A technology literate student is one who has mastered the Technology Applications TEKS. All learners are expected to be engaged in individualized, real world scenarios that are supported by modern technology tools. In addition, students are expected to know how to use technology to communicate important data and information across the globe. In regards to recommendations for improvement in the area, it is imperative to get parents involved in this technology movement. By having this stakeholder support, students will be more open to trying out new technology. In addition, every teacher must be fully trained in their respective tools that they use in the classrooms. There are times that educators are provided with ample technology resources yet do not implement them in the classroom due to lack of knowledge. Professional developments should be made mandatory in all technology tools and educators should be provided with the opportunity to attend these trainings during school hours in order to maximize attendance.  By having support from all stakeholders, the technology revolution will prevail.
